WHAT THE D.J. NEWS INSERT HAD TO SAY ABOUT THE MEGAMIX ON THIS RELEASE:
Madonna was born in Bay City, Michigan (near Detroit) 24 years ago, and after singing and dancing through high school, she enrolled at the University of Michigan on a dance scholarship. But the Big Apple called, and she started playing with a series of loft and garage bands around the city in 1978. After five years of polishing her writing and singing abilities with a brief stint in Paris, Seymour Stein signed her to Sire Records and in July, 1983 her first LP entitled "Madonna" was released. The album started slowly, but built faithful followers for Madonna first in the clubs, and then with black radio, and then with the general public as it went double platinum a year later. And now her second LP, titled "Like A Virgin", is taking off like a bat out of hell, fueled by nothing but excellent material, production, and singing. José "Animal" Diaz, who keeps them jumping at Panache in Fairview, NJ, has put together seven of Madonna's superhits into a special Disconet medley for you. "Borderline", produced by Reggie Lucas, starts if off, followed by "Everybody", produced by Mark Kamins. "Lucky Star" follows, and then it's "Holiday" produced by John "Jellybean" Benitez. "Physical Attraction", "Like A Virgin" (produced by Nile Rodgers) and "Burning Up" complete the set. Animal's set is superhot, and ends with his famous Animal Yell signature and that wonderful, jovial laugh now sorely missed by New York radio listeners until Hot Tracks' Carlos de Jesus gets back on the air and plays some real music again.
