WHAT MIXMAG HAD TO SAY ABOUT THIS MONTH'S D.M.C. MIXES:
This month's package, in our opinion is of a higher standard than our usual brilliance. Each and every mixer has excelled himself, which, united as a twin L.P. package will go a long way to making your job as D.J.s easier, and more exciting. Kicking off the albums this month is a tribute to a legend, who (as we all witnessed at the Royal Albert Hall), took time to pay due respect to the world's vinyl spinners. Paul Dakeyne took the weight on his shoulders of returning the compliment (on behalf of us all) by blending together just a few of his many vintage classics. Listen and admire through Pauls talent and skill, the magic of a god within our industry, James Brown. Les Adams suggested, in between his hectic remix schedule, "Shall I fill the dance floors again this month?" As that's what he's best at, that's what he's busted onto April's 'Funk to Acid dance mix. Whilst Chad is in New York working on numerous different projects, it was left to Sanny X to create a current hip hop concoction. Entitled 'X Rated Hip Hop', this shows the versatility of one of the world's best mixers. Fantastic stuff. In anticipation of her visit, and excellent performance at the Prestatyn soul weekend, we felt it was time to recognise the amazing talents of Joyce Sims. All wonderfully jointed, Bizzie Bee style, here's a gathering of three of her singles, plus parasite cuts, including the brand new 45, Walk Away. There's a fresh name that graces our sleeves this month in the form of the Mixbusters, aka Jason Davies and Steven Anderson. After hearing several things from these two young guys over the past few months, this landed through the letter box, and we immediately thought this was the one to launch them on DMC. 'Relax (The Megamix)' must be the busiest 7.05 minutes of music ever, so check out our new fully fledged additions to the team. Rose Royce's 'Is It Love You're After' has all of a sudden seemingly been reincarnated by jocks around the world, thanks to the release of the S. Express sampling/cover version of the said track. As one of Alan Coulthard's favourite all-time cuts, we felt he would like to couple the Rose Royce track with S.Express, also adding the aptly titled 'R.R. Express'. With certain success on the way for S. Express, this is a winner from the word go.
