WHAT JASON DAVIES OF THE MIXBUSTERS HAD TO SAY ABOUT THIS RELEASE:
This mix was a bit of a house epic at the time but was definitely a favourite with the customers. It was also the very first mix we were able to do with a pair of equal turntables rather than an old hi-fi deck & standalone. My first pair of Technics SL 1200’s. I was earning such bad money at the time that my dad offered to buy them for me (I think they were about £500 the pair then) but I had to pay him back at £50 per month. It was a risk I was prepared to take because the sound quality was (from what we had) amazing and I could actually mix records that maintained a constant speed! One of the interesting side effects of producing the release tapes in the local record shop was that the owner had relationships with record pluggers and distributers etc. Karen at Golden Disc put us in touch with a guy who could get mixes mastered to vinyl and re-imported back to the UK. I don’t know how many he actually had pressed but our deal was that he paid us £xxx’s, pressed 500 copies and gave us 20 personal copies for personal use. This mix turned out to be our second vinyl release, as we were to produce Out To Kill for our first import release.
