WHAT JAMES HAMILTON HAD TO SAY ABOUT THIS RELEASE:
BLACK BOX ‘The Total Mix’ (118¾-102¼bpm) (de/Construction Records PT 44236)
Following the current pop chart trend for megamixed past hits, here comes what on the face of it ought to be a potential Technotronic rivalling medley of all Black Box’s hits, but it’s surprisingly bland being set mainly at the cantering ‘Everybody Everybody’ tempo (with a fractional dip in the middle), saving the most instantly recognisable ‘Ride On Time’ until the end before an awkward final transition down into ‘Fantasy’ — and already the flip’s remixed jerkily chugging ‘I Don’t Know Anybody Else’ (120bpm) seems to be getting more support from many, ahead of full release next week.
