WHAT D.J. FORMAT HAD TO SAY ABOUT THIS RELEASE:
With Stealin’ James I was really inspired by cut ‘n’ paste mixes by people like Coldcut and Double D & Steinski in the ’80s and wanted to do an updated mix of James Brown’s music as sampling technology has advanced so much since ‘The Payback Mix’ and ‘Lesson 2’ etc.
I also wanted to ‘give a nod’ to the way certain producers had cut up & scratched James Brown samples in some of my favourite Hip Hop records in the late ’80s & early ’90s.
